THE PIGS AND BACON ACTS 1935 TO 1956 (PIGS AND BACON COMMISSION) FREIGHT ALLOWANCE (No. 1) ORDER, 1960.

WHEREAS by sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act, 1956 (No. 37 of 1956), the Commission may by Order—

(a) fix, in respect of carcases of factory-purchased pigs of any grade of any graded class sold while the Order is in force, the minimum price (in terms of a rate per hundredweight) thereof ;

(b) fix, in respect of carcases of factory-purchased pigs of any non-graded class sold while the Order is in force, the minimum price (in terms of a rate per hundredweight) thereof.

AND WHEREAS sub-section (3) (a) of Section 4 of that Act provides that the Commission shall, before the commencement of the first Order under Section 3 of that Act, and may thereafter whenever they think fit, make an Order :

(i) dividing the State into such and so many areas (in this sub-section referred to as sale areas) as the Commission think fit ; and

(ii) fixing, in respect of each sale area, the sum which is to be the freight allowance in respect of each factory-purchased pig sold in such area ;

and different sums may be fixed in respect of different sale areas.

NOW THEREFORE the Pigs and Bacon Commission (herein referred to as " the Commission") in exercise of the powers vested in it under sub-section 3 of Section 4 of the said Act HEREBY ORDERS as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1956 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Freight Allowance (No. 1) Order, 1960.

2. For the purpose of this Order the State shall be divided into the following sale areas and no more :

No 1 Area—comprising the Provinces of Munster and Leinster :

No. 2 Area—comprising the Province of Connaught and the Counties of Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

3. The sum which shall be the freight allowance in respect of each factory-purchased pig sold in sale area No. 1 shall be one penny per pig. The sum which shall be the freight allowance in respect of each factory-purchased pig sold in sale area No. 2 shall be one penny per pig.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes at 1d. per pig the freight allowance which a licensed bacon curer may deduct from the fixed minimum price for a carcase of a factory-purchased pig, where the pig is carried to the bacon curer's premises in a vehicle owned by the bacon curer.
