DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS. POSTAL ORDER (INLAND) AMENDMENT (No. 7) REGULATIONS, 1960

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs as testified by his signature hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 23, 24 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, and section 5 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1951 (No. 17 of 1951), hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 7) Regulations, 1960.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 28th day of March, 1960.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. These Regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905, hereinafter referred to as the Principal Regulations, and all Regulations amending the same.

5. The following Regulation is hereby substituted for Regulation 4 (inserted by the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 5) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 249 of 1953 )) of the Principal Regulations :

" 4. Postal orders shall be issued for the following sums :—

(a) the sum of sixpence and for such multiples of sixpence up to and including the sum of three shillings, and

(b) the sum of four shillings and for such multiples of one shilling up to and including the sum of one hundred shillings,

as the Minister for Finance may from time to time direct."

6. The following Regulation is hereby substituted for Regulation 5 (inserted by the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 6) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1956 )) of the Principal Regulations :

"5. The poundage payable on postal orders shall be as follows :

For an order for 6d.

2d.

For an order for any multiple of 6d. between 1s. and 3s., both inclusive, or for any multiple of 1s. between 4s. and 15s., both inclusive

3d.

For an order for any multiple of 1s. between 16s. and 20s., both inclusive

4d.

For an order for any multiple of 1s. between 21s. and 100s., both inclusive

6d."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Instrument which comes into operation on 28th March, 1960, provides for the introduction of postal orders of the values £3, £4 and £5 and for amending the poundage on postal orders as follows :—
