DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS. MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (NO. 16) REGULATIONS, 1960.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs as testified by his signature hereto, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 23 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 16) Regulations, 1960.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 28th day of March, 1960.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. These Regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Money Order Regulations, 1903 (hereinafter called "the Principal Regulations"), and all Regulations amending the Principal Regulations.

5. The Principal Regulations are hereby amended by—

(i) the substitution for Rule (3) of Regulation 3 of the following Rule :

"(3) (a) No inland money order shall be issued for an amount exceeding £100 and no inland money order payable in Northern Ireland, Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man shall be issued for an amount exceeding £50.

(b) No foreign money order shall be issued for an amount exceeding £50 or such less sum as the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs may from time to time direct.",

and

(ii) the substitution for Table A (which sets out the poundage payable in respect of inland money orders) of paragraph (1) of Regulation 18 of the following table :

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

By this Instrument, which comes into operation on 28th March, 1960, the maximum amount for which an inland money order payable within the State may be issued is raised from £50 to £100. The charges on inland money orders are amended as follows :—
