COUNTY DONEGAL RAILWAYS (ABANDONMENT OF CERTAIN RAILWAY LINES) ORDER, 1960.

WHEREAS orders have been made by the Minister for Transport and Power under section 9 of the Railways Act, 1933 (No. 9 of 1933), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), authorising the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee to terminate wholly the service of trains run over the following sections of railway line operated by the said Committee, namely, the section between Donegal and Ballyshannon and the sections comprising so much of the railway lines between Killybegs and Strabane and between Letterkenny and Strabane as is situated in the County of Donegal :

AND WHEREAS the said Committee has made application to the said Minister for an order authorising the Committee to abandon the said sections of railway line :

NOW, I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 110 of the Transport Act, 1944 (No. 21 of 1944), and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the County Donegal Railways (Abandonment of Certain Railway Lines) Order, 1960.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 16th day of February, 1960.

3. The County Donegal Railways Joint Committee is hereby authorised to abandon the following sections of railway line, namely, the section between Donegal and Ballyshannon and the sections comprising so much of the railway lines between Killybegs and Strabane and between Letterkenny and Strabane as is situated in the county of Donegal.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of the Order is to enable the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee to abandon certain sections of railway line in accordance with the provisions of Section 110 of the Transport Act, 1944 .
