2. So much of the Charter as provides that the purposes of the Institution shall be for promoting the acquisition of that species of knowledge which appertains to the profession of Civil and Mechanical Engineers and for the special advancement of Engineering and Mechanical Science shall be construed as if it provided that the purposes of the Institution shall be for promoting the acquisition of that species of knowledge which appertains to the profession of Engineering and for the special advancement of Engineering sciences.
