IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (WOODEN HANDLES) ORDER, 1959.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Acting Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and with the consent of the Minister for Industry and Commerce, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (Wooden Handles) Order, 1959.

2. The Imposition of Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 268 of 1957 ), shall, in so far as it suspends a duty of customs on handles and sections of handles made wholly or mainly of wood for chimney or sewer scrapers or cleaners and component parts made wholly or mainly of wood of such handles or such sections, cease to have effect in respect of articles imported on or after the 23rd day of October, 1959.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to restore the operation of the suspended Customs duty of 50% (full), 331/3% (pref. U.K. and Canada) ad valorem on certain handles and sections of handles for chimney or sewer scrapers or cleaners and component parts thereof.
