OFFICE PREMISES (MINIMUM TEMPERATURE IN WORKROOMS AND CLOAKROOMS) REGULATIONS, 1959.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (2) of section 10 of the Office Premises Act, 1958 (No. 3 of 1958), after consultation with the Minister for Health and having referred the proposals to which effect is given by the following regulations to the Advisory Council, hereby make the following regulations :

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Office Premises (Minimum Temperature for Workrooms and Cloakrooms) Regulations, 1959.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1959.

2. The reasonable temperature to be secured and maintained in offices shall be in accordance with the standard specified in the following paragraphs :

(a) the temperature for every room which is or is part of an office and which is either a room in which persons are employed or a cloakroom to be not less than sixty-three degrees Fahrenheit ;

(b) the temperature of sixty-three degrees Fahrenheit to be attained within one hour after the commencement of work.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to prescribe a minimum temperature that must be maintained in office workrooms and cloakrooms.
