IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (ALUMINIUM SHEET, STRIP AND FOIL) ORDER, 1959.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), and with the consent of the Minister for Industry and Commerce, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (Aluminium Sheet, Strip and Foil) Order, 1959.

2. The duty of customs imposed by the Imposition of Duties (No. 57) (Aluminium Sheet, Strip and Foil) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 16 of 1959 ), shall not, as respects articles imported on or after the 10th day of February, 1959, and before the 1st day of July, 1959, be charged or levied on—

(a) sheet, strip or foil which is made wholly or mainly of aluminium or of an alloy of which aluminium is the main constituent and exceeds one fiftieth of an inch in thickness.

(b) articles consisting of articles chargeable with the said duty and mentioned in subparagraph (a) of this paragraph which are combined by adhesion with a layer or layers of paper or any other material, and

(c) pieces of the articles chargeable with the said duty and mentioned in subparagraph (a) or sub-paragraph (b) of this paragraph which are cut to shape or size.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the above Order is to exempt from the Customs duty on aluminium sheet, strip and foil material in excess of one fiftieth of an inch in thickness which is imported before 1st July, 1959.
