TRUSTEE SAVINGS BANKS REGULATIONS, 1958.

I, SÉAMAS Ó RIAIN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (2) of section 5 of the Savings Banks Act, 1958 (No. 23 of 1958), hereby make the following regulations with respect to which a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and no action against the draft or any part thereof has been taken by either such House :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Trustee Savings Banks Regulations, 1958.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 7th day of January, 1959.

3. The declaration to be required from a depositor on opening an account in a trustee savings bank shall be a declaration—

(a) which is made by the depositor (or, where the account is opened by another person on behalf of the depositor, by that person), and

(b) which declares whether the depositor has or has not any other account in the bank, including any joint account in which his name appears and any account opened in trust for him, and sets forth the particulars of any such account.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 5 (1) of the Savings Banks Act, 1958 , removed the restrictions on the number of accounts which may be held by a person in savings banks. These regulations make the consequential changes in the form of declaration required from a depositor on opening an account in a trustee savings bank.
