Director of the Institute.

7.—(1) There shall be a director of the Institute (in this Act referred to as the Director).

(2) The Director shall be the chief officer of the Institute and shall control and direct the activities and staff of the Institute subject to the direction of the Council.

(3) The first Director shall be appointed by the Government as soon as may be after the commencement of this Act and shall hold office for such term and on such terms and conditions (including terms of remuneration) as may be determined by the Government.

(4) Subsequently, the Director shall be appointed by the Council and shall hold office for such term and on such terms and conditions (including terms of remuneration) as may be determined by the Council.

(5) (a) The Government may provide by order for the payment, in such manner and subject to such conditions and limitations as may be specified in the order, of superannuation allowances by way of pension or gratuity or both for the first Director.

(b) The Council may provide for the payment, in such manner and subject to such conditions and limitations as it may determine, of superannuation allowances by way of pension or gratuity or both for subsequent Directors.

(6) The Director shall devote the whole of his time to his duties as Director and shall not hold any other office or position without the consent of the Council.

(7) The Director may make proposals to the Council on any matter relating to the activities of the Institute.

(8) The Director shall not be a member of the Council.

(9) The Council may, with the consent of the Government, at any time remove the Director from office.

(10) The Government may at any time revoke or amend an order under this section (including this subsection).
