MERCHANT SHIPPING (FEES) ORDER, 1954 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1957.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 4 of the Mercantile Marine Act, 1955 (No. 29 of 1955), and by virtue of the operation of section 8 of that Act, hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, order as follows :—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Order, 1954 (Amendment) Order, 1957.

(2) The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 267 of 1954 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Orders, 1954 and 1957.

(3) This Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of October, 1957.

2. The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Order, 1954, shall have effect subject to the following amendments :

(a) in subparagraph (i) of paragraph 13 of the First Schedule " or Northern Ireland " shall be inserted before " in addition ",

(b) the special fee of £18 18s. 0d. or a multiple thereof specified in subparagraph (ii) of that paragraph shall cease to be chargeable.

Explanatory Note.

The Order provides for the discontinuance of the charge for surveyors' travelling expenses and subsistence allowances, in the case of marine surveys in the Six-county area, and of the special fee of 18 guineas a day in the case of marine surveys made abroad.
