SWINE FEVER (RESTRICTION OF MOVEMENT OF PIGS) ORDER, 1957 (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) ORDER, 1957.

I, SEÁN MOYLAN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Agriculture Acts, 1931 to 1955, and the Diseases of Animals Acts, 1894 to 1957, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Swine Fever (Restriction of Movement of Pigs) Order, 1957 (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1957.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 3rd day of October, 1957.

3. The Swine Fever (Restriction of Movement of Pigs) Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 128 of 1957 ), as amended by the Swine Fever (Restriction of Movement of Pigs) Order, 1957 (Amendment) Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 166 of 1957 ), is hereby further amended by—

(i) the deletion of Article 5 and the substitution therefor of the following Article :

" 5. The movement of pigs, except under and in accordance with a transit permit or in compliance with a direction given by a member of the Gárda Síochána under Article 7 of this Order, is prohibited.",

and

(ii) the deletion of paragraph (4) of Article 6 and the substitution therefor of the following paragraph :

" (4) Immediately after the completion of the movement in respect of which a transit permit is issued, the person who is in charge of that movement shall deliver the permit—

(a) in case the movement was to a place of embarkation for exportation by sea, to an inspector at that place,

(b) in case the movement was to a place of slaughter, to the person in charge of that place,

(c) in case the movement was to a public sale, to a member of the Gárda Síochána present at the sale or to the nearest Gárda Síochána station, and

(d) in any other case, to the nearest Gárda Síochána station."

Explanatory Note.

This Order allows all normal movement of pigs but requires that each movement be governed by transit permit.
