EMERGENCY POWERS (No. 282) ORDER, 1943 (BRASS COUPLINGS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1957.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Powers (No. 282) Order, 1943 (Brass Couplings) (Amendment) Order, 1957.

2. The Emergency Powers (No. 282) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 247 of 1943), shall, in so far as it suspends a duty of customs on the articles mentioned in paragraph 4 in the second column of the First Schedule to the Finance Act, 1939 (No. 18 of 1939), at reference number 10, cease to have effect as respects articles imported on or after the 21st day of June, 1957.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the restoration of the suspended Customs Duty of 50% (full), 331/3% (Preferential) ad valorem on compression type couplings, joints, and other similar fittings.
