Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Act, 1957

Increase of rates of children's allowances.

1.—(1) In this section “the principal subsection” means subsection (1) of section 6 of the Children's Allowances (Amendment) Act, 1946 (No. 8 of 1946), being the subsection inserted by paragraph (c) of section 3 of the Social Welfare (Children's Allowances) Act, 1952 (No. 12 of 1952).

(2) The principal subsection shall, in relation to the month of May, 1957, have effect as if “thirteen shillings and sixpence” were substituted for “eleven shillings” and “twenty shillings” were substituted for “seventeen shillings and sixpence”.

(3) Subsection (2) of this section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1957.

(4) The principal subsection is hereby amended by the substitution of “fifteen shillings and sixpence” for “eleven shillings” and “twenty-two shillings” for “seventeen shillings and sixpence”.

(5) Subsection (4) of this section shall be deemed to have come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1957.
