MENTAL HOSPITALS (ASSISTANT MEDICAL OFFICERS) ORDER, 1943 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 13 and paragraph (i) of subsection (1) of section 19 of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders and declares as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Mental Hospitals (Assistant Medical Officers) Order, 1943 (Amendment) Order, 1956.

2. The Mental Hospitals (Assistant Medical Officers) Order, 1943 (S.R. & O. 1943 No. 165) shall be amended by the substitution of the word " three " for the word " two " in article 2 of that Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to extend from two years to three years the period within which assistant medical officers in district mental hospitals who do not on appointment possess a recognised degree or diploma in mental disease or psychological medicine are obliged to acquire such a degree or diploma.
