CARRIAGE OF WHEAT (No. 2) ORDER, 1956.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (3) of section 2 of the Transport (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1955 (No. 21 of 1955), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Carriage of Wheat (No. 2) Order, 1956.

2. During the period commencing on the 1st day of September, 1956, and ending on the 31st day of August, 1957, section 9 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 (No. 8 of 1933), (which restricts the carriage of merchandise by unlicensed persons) shall not apply to the carriage of wheat by a person authorised under the Wheat Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 196 of 1956 ), to act as the agent of the licensee of a mill, where the wheat was purchased by the agent for the licensee and is carried in a vehicle owned by the agent.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the instrument is that licensed agents of licensed mills may, as heretofore, use their own vehicles for the transport of wheat purchased by them for licensed mills during the period 1st September, 1956, to 31st August, 1957, although not licensed under the Road Transport Act, 1933 , for the purpose.
