EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation on 31st July, 1956 section 26 of the Local Government Act, 1955 which amends section 2 of the Local Authorities (Officers and Employees) Act, 1926 (No. 39 of 1926). The effect of the amendment is to remove from the scope of the Act of 1926 temporary appointments to offices to which the Act applies, the office of part-time engineer or surveyor to an urban district council or town commissioners and offices the qualifications for which are technical. These appointments may now be made by local authorities themselves without recourse to the Local Appointments Commissioners.
