Fisheries (Statute Law Revision) Act, 1956

Extension of sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Mussels, Periwinkles and Cockles (Ireland) Act, 1898, to all molluscs (except oysters).

19.—(1) In this section the expression “the Act of 1898” means the Mussels, Periwinkles and Cockles (Ireland) Act, 1898.

(2) Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Act of 1898 shall extend to all molluscs (except oysters).

(3) For the purposes of giving full effect to subsection (2) of this section—

(a) in section 1 of the Act of 1898, the words “the mollusc (other than oyster) fisheries” shall be substituted for the words “the mussel, periwinkle and cockle fisheries”;

(b) in sections 2 and 3 of the Act of 1898, the words “molluscs (other than oysters) of the kind specified in the bye-law” shall be substituted for the words “mussels, periwinkles or cockles”, where the latter words occur.
