EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 361) (WOVEN ARTIFICIAL TEXTILE AND UNION FABRICS) ORDER, 1955.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 361) (Woven Artificial Textile and Union Fabrics) Order, 1955.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. Paragraph 5 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 340) (Woven Artificial Textile and Union Fabrics) Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 228 of 1954 ), as amended by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 351) (Woven Artificial Textile and Union Fabrics) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 131 of 1955 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 23rd day of December, 1955, have effect as if—

(1) the following subparagraph were substituted for subparagraph (b) :—

" (b) is a fancy yarn cloth (other than slub-yarn dress cloth which contains synthetic or artificial textile and does not exceed eight ounces in weight per square yard) and is of a value which exceeds two shillings and sixpence per square yard ; or ",

(2) " is not ticken," were inserted before " is made partly " in subparagraph (h) and before " is made wholly " in subparagraph (i),

(3) the following clause were substituted for clause (v) of subparagraph (k) :

" (v) is lamé cloth or other metal yarn cloth or is chenille cloth, bouclé cloth or ribbed moiré fabric, or is embroidered, quilted, Jacquard-blistered or dobby-blistered fabric, and is of a value which exceeds two shillings and sixpence per square yard ; or ",

(4) the following subclause were substituted for subclause (I) of clause (vi) of subparagraph (k) :

'(I) is suitable for use in the manufacture of wearing apparel and which has been impregnated and rendered waterproof otherwise than by the use of rubber ; or ",

(5) the following subclause were substituted for subclause (II) of clause (vi) of subparagraph (k) :

" (II) is of the nature of a ticken, or a lining or an interlining, or a pocketing ; or ", and

(6) the following subclause were inserted after subclause (IV) of clause (vi) of subparagraph (k) :

" (IVa) is suitable for the manufacture of wearing apparel and is of a value which does not exceed two shillings and sixpence per square yard ; or "
