LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1955 (DATE OF COMMENCEMENT) (No. 1) ORDER, 1955.

The Minister for Local Government in pursuance of section 3 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955) hereby orders as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1955 (Date of Commencement) (No. 1) Order, 1955.

(2) In this Order " the Act " means the Local Government Act, 1965 (No. 9 of 1955).

2. The provisions of the Act specified in the First Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on the 28th day of May, 1955.

3. Section 5 of the Act shall come into operation on the 28th day of May, 1955, for the purpose of effecting the repeal of the enactments which are specified in the Second Schedule to this Order to the extent mentioned in the third column of that Schedule.
