PRESCRIBED PROPORTION OF VALUE (SILK AND ARTIFICIAL SILK) REGULATIONS, 1955.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 16 of the Finance (Agreement with United Kingdom) Act, 1938 (No. 12 of 1938), as applied by subparagraph (b) of paragraph 5 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 347) (Silk and Artificial Silk) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 66 of 1955 ), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Prescribed Proportion of Value (Silk and Artificial Silk) Regulations, 1955.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. The proportion of the value of any woven tissues, being woven tissues which are imported in the piece and contain, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, not less than forty per cent. by weight of artificial silk or of silk and artificial silk and are of a value not exceeding one shilling and three pence per square yard, which must be the result of labour within a particular country in order that such woven tissues may be treated for the purpose of the Finance (Agreement with United Kingdom) Act, 1938 (No. 12 of 1938), as applied by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 347) (Silk and Artificial Silk) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 66 of 1955 ), as woven tissues manufactured in that country shall, on and after the 29th day of April, 1955, be seventy-five per cent. in lieu of the proportion prescribed by subparagraph (b) of paragraph 2 of the Agreement with United Kingdom (Prescribed Proportion of Value) Regulations, 1938 ( S. R. & O. No. 185 of 1938 ), as so applied.
