ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD (VARIATIONS IN SUPPLY) REGULATIONS, 1955, CONFIRMATION ORDER, 1955.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by Section 2 of the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Act, 1949 (No. 12 of 1949), hereby make the following Order :

1. This Order may be cited as the Electricity Supply Board (Variations in Supply) Regulations, 1955, Confirmation Order, 1955.

2. The regulations set out in the Schedule are hereby confirmed and shall come into operation on the 26th day of March, 1955.

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD.

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD (VARIATIONS IN SUPPLY) REGULATIONS 1955.

WE, the ELECTRICITY SUPPLY BOARD, in pursuance of the powers conferred on us by the Electricity (Supply) (Amendment) Act, 1949 , and all other powers enabling us in that behalf, do hereby make the following regulations :—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Electricity Supply Board (Variations in Supply) Regulations, 1955.

2. These regulations shall, subject to confirmation by the Minister for Industry and Commerce, take effect and be in force as from the day specified by the order of the Minister for Industry and Commerce confirming them.

3. The provisions of these regulations are to be read and construed subject in all respects to the provisions of the Electricity (Supply) Acts, 1927 to 1954, and of any Acts amending the same.

4. In these regulations—

the expression " the Board " means the Electricity Supply Board ";

the expression " public notice " means publication by advertisement in Iris Oifigiúil and in at least two daily newspapers circulating in the area concerned in the regulations ;

the expression " the characteristics of supply " means the voltage, periodicity and the number of phases of alternating current supply or, in the case of existing direct current supply, the voltage and the number of wires.

5. The Board may, after the expiration of three months from the date of the public notice of their intention to do so, vary the characteristics of supply in any area or may substitute alternating current for direct current in any area and any provision to the contrary made by or under the Electricity (Supply) Acts, 1882 to 1919, shall cease to have effect.
