Agricultural rate.

1.—(1) The additional sum which may be raised by the council of a county under subsection (1) of section 36 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), in the local financial year beginning on the 1st day of April, 1955, or any subsequent local financial year, shall be a sum equal to not more than eight pence in the pound on the rateable value of the county at the beginning of that year.

(2) Section 2 of the Agriculture (Amendment) Act, 1948 (No. 24 of 1948), which provided for an additional rate of not more than five pence in the pound, is accordingly repealed.

(3) All acts and things done before the passing of this Act by the council of a county in relation to the making of any rate for the local financial year commencing on the 1st day of April, 1955, shall (where the amount to be raised by means of such rate includes the amount of the agricultural rate) be as valid and effectual as if subsection (1) of this section were in force at the time such acts or things were done.
