S.I. No. 369 of 1953.

HARBOUR RATES (SLIGO PORT AND HARBOUR) ORDER, 1953.

I, SEAN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 104 of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1953.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 14th day of December, 1953.

3. In this Order " the Order of 1943 " means the Harbour Rates (Sligo Port and Harbour) Order, 1943 ( S. R. & O. No. 43 of 1943 ).

4. Article 8 of the Order of 1943 (which fixes the charge for depositing coal on the quays) is hereby amended by the substitution of " ninepence per ton " for "sixpence per ton."

5. Part I of the First Schedule to the Order of 1943 (which fixes maximum tonnage rates) is hereby amended—

(a) by the substitution, at reference number 1, of " 1s. 6d." for " 1s.", and

(b) by the insertion, before reference number 2, of the following :

" 1a. For every ton of the Rateable Tonnage of every vessel discharging or loading in the Port such amount of cargo as is less than half the Registered Tonnage of such vessel for each and every voyage made to or from the Port from or to any Port or place in Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the State

This rate will not apply to vessels loading livestock in addition to cargo."

6.—(1) The rates set out in the Schedule to this Order are hereby substituted for the rates set out in the Second Schedule to the Order of 1943.

(2) Where the rates fixed under this Order are payable at a tonnage charge, lesser weights shall be chargeable as follows :—

(a) any weight not exceeding 5 cwt. shall count as 5 cwt. ;

(b) any weight exceeding 5 cwt. but not exceeding 10 cwt. shall count as 10 cwt. ;

(c) any weight exceeding 10 cwt. but not exceeding 15 cwt. shall count as 15 cwt. ;

(d) any weight exceeding 15 cwt. but not exceeding 20 cwt. shall count as one ton.
