CONTROL OF EXPORTS (AMENDMENT) (NO. 1) ORDER, 1953.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946) ), hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Exports (Amendment) (No. 1) Order, 1953.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 21st day of October, 1953.

2. Part I of the First Schedule to the Control of Exports Order, 1953 ( S.I. No. 226 of 1953 ), is hereby amended :

(a) by the deletion of the following :

"Rags and textile clippings of all descriptions"

(b) by the deletion of the following :

"Sugar and sugar syrup, molasses and glucose. All commodities which are made from sugar or other sweetening matter or to which sugar or other sweetening matter has been added in the course of preparation."

(c) by the insertion of the following :

"Sugar, molasses and glucose. The following commodities made from sugar or other sweetening matter or to which sugar or other sweetening matter has been added in the course of preparation :

Bakers' spreads, honey spread, salad cream base, sweets and chocolates, chocolate couverture, chocolate crumb, jelly crystals, piping jelly, mixtures containing milk (whether fresh, dried or condensed), skim milk (whether fresh, dried or condensed) or creamery butter."

3. Part II of the First Schedule to the Control of Exports Order, 1953 ( S.I. No. 226 of 1953 ), is hereby amended :

(a) by the deletion of the following :

"Commodities to which sugar or other sweetening matter has been added in the course of preparation as follows :

Prune wine, ginger wine, birch wine, black currant wine, cowslip wine, barley wine ;

Candied root vegetables ;

Any of the following, being tinned or bottled :

beans, beans in tomato sauce, beans in tomato sauce with pork, beans with pork, peas, peas in tomato sauce, carrots, beetroot, tomato soup, tomato juice."

(b) by the insertion of the following:

"Road motor vehicles as follows:

Motor cars, including taxis.

Motor cycles.

Motor trucks, vans, lorries and station wagons.

Manufactures of oils or fats, being manufactures to which sugar or other sweetening matter has been added in the course of manufacture."
