INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1949.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers vested in him by Section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 , hereby makes the following regulations :—

1.—(1) These regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1949.

(2) In these regulations, the expression " the Principal Regulations " means the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1948 ( S.I. No. 21 of 1948 ).

(3) These regulations shall be read and construed as one with the Principal Regulations and the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1948 ( S.I. No. 313 of 1948 ), and may be collectively cited therewith as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1948 and 1949.

2. Article 2 of the Principal Regulations shall be amended by the insertion after the word " applies " in the definition of the word " person " of the words " by virtue of subsection (1) of that section. "

3. Article 5 of the Principal Regulations, shall be amended by the substitution in sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (1), sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (2), sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (4), and sub-paragraph (b) of paragraph (5) thereof of the words " a female person " for the words " someone other than a relative " wherever the same occur.

4. The Schedule of the Principal Regulations, is hereby revoked and the following schedule shall be substituted therefor :—

For a married woman whose husband is unable to make proper provision for the care of their family where, with the approval of the health authority, it is necessary to employ a female person to take care of such family.
