EMERGENCY POWERS (RETAIL DISTRIBUTION OF TEA) ORDER, 1943 (FOURTH AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1949.

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Powers (Retail Distribution of Tea) Order, 1943 (Fourth Amendment) Order, 1949.

2.—(1) In this Order—

the expression " the Principal Order " means the Emergency Powers (Retail Distribution of Tea) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 60 of 1943), as amended ;

the expression " the twelfth ration period " means the ration period prescribed by the Emergency Powers (Retail Distribution of Tea) Order, 1943 (Twelfth Ration Period) Order, 1948 ( S.I. No. 385 of 1948 ).

(2) The Principal Order and this Order shall be construed as one.

3. No further ration periods shall be declared for the purposes of the Principal Order and accordingly—

(a) where, at the expiration of the twelfth ration period, a domestic consumer is registered, for the purposes of the Principal Order, as a customer at a licensed retail tea shop the retailer shall continue to retain the relevant registration page and so long as he retains such page, the consumer shall be deemed for the purposes of the Principal Order to be registered as a tea customer at the shop,

(b) for the purposes of effecting, after the expiration of the twelfth ration period, new registrations under Article 8 of the Principal Order, the twelfth ration period shall be deemed not to have expired and page 5 of a general ration book may be lodged in connection with any such new registration,

(c) after the expiration of the twelfth ration period, there shall be no tea coupons for the purposes of the Principal Order, but references in that Order to the exchange value of a tea coupon shall have the same meaning as they had immediately before the expiration of the twelfth ration period,

(d) Article 16 of the Principal Order shall cease to have effect on the expiration of the twelfth ration period.
