MILK (MAXIMUM PRICES TO RETAILERS) ORDER, 1949.

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), as amended by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Act, 1948 (No. 18 of 1948)), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Milk (Maximum Prices to Retailers) Order, 1949.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of May, 1949.

2. In this Order—

(1) the expression " the Dublin Sale District " means the area consisting of the county borough of Dublin, the administrative county of Dublin and the urban district of Bray ;

(2) the expression " registered retailer " means a person registered in the register of retailers kept by the Dublin District Milk Board ;

(3) the expression " fresh milk " has the meaning attached to it in the Milk and Dairies Act, 1935 (No. 22 of 1935), and the Regulations made thereunder.

3. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

4. The maximum prices at which fresh milk (other than milk which is Highest Grade Milk within the meaning of the Milk and Dairies (Special Designations) Regulations, 1938 and 1939) may be sold to registered retailers in any place in the Dublin Sale District shall be prices calculated at the following rates :—

(a) during the period of five months commencing on the 1st day of May, 1949—1/10½d. per gallon ;

(b) during the period of three months commencing on the 1st day of October, 1949—2/7½d. per gallon ;

(c) during the period of three months commencing on the 1st day of January, 1950—2/8½d. per gallon ;

(d) during the period of one month commencing on the 1st day of April, 1950—2/2½d. per gallon.
