MOTOR SPIRIT (MAXIMUM PRICES) ORDER, 1949.

I, DANIEL MORRISSEY, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939) as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946) as amended by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (Continuance) Act, 1948 (No. 18 of 1948)) and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Motor Spirit (Maximum Prices) Order, 1949.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 31st day of March, 1949.

2. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

3. For the purpose of this Order, any fraction of a halfpenny shall be regarded as one halfpenny.

4. The price at which Motor Spirit may be sold shall not exceed—

(a) in the area known by custom in the trade as the Dublin Zone—

(i) in case it is sold and delivered in sealed two-gallon containers or in steel barrels, 2/8¼d. per gallon ;

(ii) in any other case, 2/7¾d. per gallon ;

(b) in the remainder of the State—

(i) in case it is sold and delivered in sealed two-gallon containers or in steel barrels 2/9¼d. per gallon,

(ii) in any other case, 2/8¾d. per gallon.

5. In this Order the expression " Motor Spirit " has the meaning assigned to it by the Emergency Powers (Motor Spirit Rationing) Order, 1941 (S. R. & O. No. 36 of 1941).

6. The Motor Spirit (Maximum Prices) (No. 2) Order, 1948 (S. 1., No. 161 of 1948) is hereby revoked.
