CUSTOMS DUTIES (MISCELLANEOUS SUSPENSIONS) ORDER, 1949.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Customs Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) Order, 1949.

2. Article 2 of each of the following Orders—

(a) the Emergency Powers (No. 192) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 256 of 1942),

(b) the Emergency Powers (No. 282) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 247 of 1943),

(c) the Emergency Powers (No. 320) Order, 1944 (S. R. & O. No. 156 of 1944),

(d) the Customs Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 105 of 1947 ),

(e) the Electric Filament Lamps (Suspension of Customs Duties) Order, 1947 ( S. R. & O. No. 260 of 1947 ),

(f) the Customs Duties (Miscellaneous Suspensions) (No. 3) Order, 1948 ( S.I. No. 403 of 1948 ),

is hereby amended by the substitution of " the 30th day of September, 1949 " for " the 31st day of March, 1949 ".

3. Article 2 of the Emergency Powers (No. 257) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 71 of 1943), is hereby amended by the substitution of " the 1st day of October, 1949 " for " the 1st day of April, 1949 ".

4. The Emergency Powers (No. 282) Order, 1943 (S. R. & O. No. 247 of 1943), is hereby amended as on and from the 1st day of April, 1949, by—

(a) the substitution in column (3) of the First Schedule at reference number 3 of " The Articles mentioned in paragraphs (e), (f) and (g) at the said reference number 16 as amended, other than postcards and greeting cards " for the words at present appearing therein ;

(b) the deletion of all matter contained in the Second Schedule at reference number 6.

5. The operation of the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 199) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 214 of 1939 ), in so far as it imposes a duty of customs on the articles referred to at paragraphs (b), (c), (d), (e) (f), (g) and (h) of Article 3 thereof is hereby suspended during the period beginning on the 1st day of April, 1949, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1949.
