Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices (Amendment) Act, 1949

Amendment of section 20 of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Act, 1938.

1.—Subsection (1) of section 20 of the Ministerial and Parliamentary Offices Act, 1938 (No. 38 of 1938), is hereby amended in the following respects—

(a) by the insertion at the end of paragraph (d) of the following—

“(dd) a person, who died on or after the date of the passing of this Act and held a qualifying office at the date of his death, would not, if he had ceased to hold such office on that date, have been entitled at that date to a pension,”

(b) by the insertion at the end of paragraph (e) of the words “or, if such person is a person to whom paragraph (dd) of this subsection applies, a pension (in this Act also referred to as a widow's pension) at the rate of, in case such person held a ministerial office at the date of his death, one hundred and fifty pounds per annum or, in case such person held a secretarial office at the date of his death, one hundred pounds per annum”.
