SULPHATE OF AMMONIA (MAXIMUM PRICES) ORDER, 1948.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)) and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Sulphate of Ammonia (Maximum Prices) Order, 1948.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 7th day of January, 1948.

2. References in this Order to selling shall be construed as including references to agreeing or offering to sell or to inviting an offer to buy.

3. No person shall sell sulphate of ammonia to a retail merchant at a price exceeding a price calculated at the rate of £15 15s. 0d. per ton ex quay or free on rail.

4. (1) No person shall sell by retail sulphate of ammonia at a price exceeding a price calculated at the rate of £16 10s. 0d: per ton, together with the cost of transport by the cheapest mode from the port or place of importation to the vendor's premises.

(2) Whenever a retail merchant sells sulphate of ammonia to any person, such retail merchant shall, on the demand in writing of the purchaser, deliver to such purchaser a statement in writing setting out the amount of the price which is referable to the cost of transport mentioned in paragraph (1) of this Article.

5. This Order shall not apply to sulphate of ammonia sold for industrial purposes and known to the trade as sulphate of ammonia qualities S.A. 1., S.A. 2. and S.A. 3.
