STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1947. No. 294.

FLOUR AND BREAD (RATIONING) ORDER, 1946 (SUPPLE:MENTAL PROVISIONS) (HARVEST PERIOD) ORDER 1947.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Flour and Bread (Rationing) Order, 1946 (Supplemental Provisions) (Harvest Period) Order, 1947.

2. In this Order—

the expression " the Principal Order " means the Flour and Bread (Rationing) Order, 1946 ( S. R. & O. No. 388 of 1946 ), as amended ;

the expression " the harvest area " means the area of the State other than the county boroughs of Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Limerick and the borough of Dun Laoghaire ;

the expression " the harvest period " means the period of four ration weeks ending on Friday, the 26th day of September, 1947.

3. This Order shall be construed as one with the Principal Order.

4. This Order is supplemental to the Principal Order.

5.—(1) Where a person resident in the harvest area notifies the retailer with whom he is registered as a flour customer that he wishes to obtain an increased ration of flour, then, for such person, the flour exchange value of a flour or bread coupon shall be 3 lb. of flour during any ration week in the harvest period.

(2) By virtue of this paragraph—

(a) a person may purchase from the retailer with whom he is registered as a flour customer and the retailer may sell to him a quantity or quantities of flour not exceeding in all the quantities to which he is entitled, under this Order, for the several ration weeks of the harvest period ;

(b) such purchases and sales may be made at any time or times during the harvest period.

(3) During the harvest period paragraphs (2) and (3) of Article 19 of the Principal Order shall continue to have effect as if paragraph (1) of this Article had not been made.

6. Where a person resident in the harvest area notifies the retailer with whom he is registered as a bread customer that he wishes to obtain an increased ration of bread, then, for such person, the bread exchange value of a flour or bread coupon shall be 4 lb. of bread during any ration week in the harvest period.

7. The forms set out in the Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Schedules to the Principal Order are the forms to be used for the purposes of this Order, and the words " Harvest Only " shall be endorsed on each such form.
