STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1947. No. 247.

CHEESE (LEVY) ORDER, 1947.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 18 of the Dairy Produce (Price Stabilisation) Act, 1935 (No. 21 of 1935), that the Minister for Agriculture may from time to time by Order make regulations prescribing the rates of levy under Part III of the said Act on milk products and may at any time by Order revoke or amend any such Order and may, by any such Order prescribe different rates of levy on different substances and on different classes (defined in such manner as the said Minister shall think proper) of any particular substance and the date on which any particular rate of levy shall come into force.

AND WHEREAS by virtue of Section 3 of the said Act raw cheese is a milk product for the purposes of the said Act :

NOW, I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Dairy Produce (Price Stabilisation) Act, 1935 (No. 21 of 1935), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling do by this Order make the following regulations :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Cheese (Levy) Order, 1947.

2. The rate of levy on raw cheese manufactured by persons who are registered proprietors of premises registered in the register of creameries or in the register of cream separating stations kept by the Minister for Agriculture under Section 14 of the Dairy Produce Act, 1924 (No. 58 of 1924), shall be three shillings and tenpence the hundredweight, and such rate shall come into force as on and from the 24th day of June, 1947.
