INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ACT, 1946.REGULATIONS, 1946.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 (No. 26 of 1946), hereby make the following Regulations :—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 , Regulations, 1946.

2. These regulations shall come into operation on the 27th day of September, 1946.

3. In these regulations—

" the Act " means the Industrial Relations Act, 1946 (No. 26 of 1946),

references to sections are to sections of the Act.

" the Court " means the Labour Court.

4.—(1) Notices under section 38, under that section as applied by section 40, and under section 43, and orders under sections 39 and 40, shall be published by the Court in Iris Oifigiúil and in at least one daily newspaper circulating in the State.

(2) Where, however, an order under section 39 or section 40 has been published by the Stationery Office, it shall be sufficient for the Court to publish in Iris Oifigiúil and in at least one daily newspaper circulating in the State a notice stating that the order has been made and so published, and indicating its contents and stating that copies may be purchased from the Stationery Office.

5.—(1) The Court shall, as soon as possible after the publication, under regulation 4, of notice of proposals under section 42, send a notice containing full details of the proposals to all employers appearing to the Court to be affected, so far as their names and addresses are known to the Court.

(2) The notice shall require representations with respect to the proposals to be lodged with the joint labour committee concerned within thirty days of the date of publication of notice of the proposals under regulation 4.

6. The Court shall, as soon as possible after the publication, under regulation 4, of notice of the making of an employment regulation order, send a notice containing full details of the order to all employers appearing to the Court to be affected, so far as their names and addresses are known to the Court.

7. An employer shall, on receipt of a notice under regulation 5 or regulation 6, post up and keep posted up a sufficient number of true copies thereof in prominent positions, so as to ensure that it shall be brought to the knowledge of, and can conveniently be read by, all workers employed by him who are affected by it.

8. Where, before the commencement of this Act, a trade board has sent to an employer a notice of any order which, under section 54, is deemed to be an employment regulation order, the employer shall be under the like obligation to post up and keep posted up the said notice as if it were a notice under regulation 6.

9. Where a notice to be posted up by an employer under these regulations refers to some prior notice or notices and, to be properly understood, must be read therewith, the employer shall post up and keep posted up a sufficient number of copies of the prior notice or notices, in the same manner as, and together with, the first-mentioned notice, so that both or all the said notices may be read as one notice.

10.—(1) Where the Court makes an order amending or revoking an employment regulation order or an order deemed to be an employment regulation order, the Court may embody notice thereof in a consolidated notice, containing details of the matters, previously in force, left unaffected by the amendment or revocation, and indicating the matters amended or revoked.

(2) Regulations 7 and 8 apply to a consolidated notice as they apply to notices under these regulations.

(3) The posting up and keeping posted up, in accordance with these regulations, of a consolidated notice shall be sufficient compliance with regulation 9.

11. The fee to be paid for a copy of a registered employment agreement supplied under section 31 shall be two shillings and sixpence.
