COMMITTEES OF AGRICULTURE (SALARIES OF OFFICERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1945.

I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sub-section (1) of Section 27 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, hereby make the following regulations:

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1945.

(2) The Principal Regulations and these Regulations may be cited together as the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1936 and 1945.

2. In these Regulations the expression "the Principal Regulations" means the Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) Regulations, 1936 (S. R. & O., No. 51 of 1936).

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the insertion in Part I of the following paragraph:—

" 4A. (1) Subject to the provisions of subparagraph (2) of this paragraph, a committee shall, in addition to the actual salary and bonus (if any) payable by such committee, pay to each officer of such committee, the rate of whose total remuneration (exclusive of any allowance for cost of subsistence, hotel expenses and travelling) from such committee is less than five hundred pounds per annum and who does not hold a position of emolument under any other local authority—

(a) if such officer is married or is a widower or a widow, temporary (emergency) additional remuneration at the rate of, in case such officer is an officer of a clerical grade and the offices of such committee are not situate in a county borough, nine shillings per week or, in any other case, eleven shillings per week,

(b) if such officer is not married or is not a widower or a widow, temporary (emergency) additional remuneration at the rate of, in case such officer is an officer of a clerical grade and the offices of such committee are not situate in a county borough, seven shillings and six pence per week or, in any other case, nine shillings per week.

(2) Temporary (emergency) additional remuneration payable under subparagraph (1) of this paragraph to an officer of a committee shall be limited to such amount as, when added to the total remuneration (exclusive of any allowance for cost of subsistence, hotel expenses and travelling) payable to such officer by such committee, will not exceed five hundred pounds per annum.

(3) Where the remuneration of an officer to whom this paragraph applies consists in part of the bonus referred to in paragraph 4 of this Schedule, the bonus to be reckoned in determining for the purposes of this paragraph the total remuneration of such officer shall not be calculated by reference to a cost of living index figure higher than the maximum such figure by reference to which bonus was, on the 31st day of December, 1944, permitted to be calculated by virtue of section 2 of the Local Authorities (Cost of Living) Act, 1940 (No. 22 of 1940)."

5. The Committees of Agriculture (Salaries of Officers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1944 ( S. R. & O., No. 69 of 1944 ), are hereby revoked.
