PUBLIC ASSISTANCE (MIDWIVES (IRELAND) ACT, 1918) ADAPTATION ORDER, 1942.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

WHEREAS sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Midwives (Ireland) Act, 1918, was an enactment in force at the commencement of the Public Assistance Act, 1939 (hereinafter referred to as " the Act of 1939 "), and in so far as it relates to medical relief under the Poor Relief (Ireland) Act, 1851, relates to a matter or thing dealt with or affected by the Act of 1939 :

AND WHEREAS it appears to the Minister for Local Government and Public Health to be necessary or expedient for carrying the Act of 1939 into effect to make the adaptation of the said sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Midwives (Ireland) Act, 1918, hereinafter appearing :

NOW THEREFORE, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 89 of the Act of 1939, does hereby order as follows, that is to say :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Public Assistance (Midwives (Ireland) Act, 1918), Adaptation Order, 1942.

2. Sub-section (1) of section 22 of the Midwives (Ireland) Act, 1918, shall be and is hereby adapted by the substitution therein of the words in brackets " (unless the patient is eligible for medical assistance under the Public Assistance Act, 1939 ) ", for the words in brackets " (unless the patient is entitled to medical relief under section 9 of the Poor Relief (Ireland) Act, 1851) ".
