UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE (NIGHT-WORK) REGULATIONS, 1940.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (1) of section 6 of the Unemployment Assistance (Amendment) Act, 1940 (No. 4 of 1940), that the Minister for Industry and Commerce may by regulations made by him under the Unemployment Assistance Act, 1933 (No. 46 of 1933), prescribe either generally or in respect of any particular class or classes of persons or any particular district or districts that where a person is employed to work continuously from a time on one day until a time on the next following day, that person shall be regarded, for the purposes of the Unemployment Assistance Acts, 1933 to 1940, as being, by virtue of such employment, employed only on such one of those days as shall be prescribed by such regulations :

NOW, the Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Unemployment Assistance Acts, 1933 to 1940, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Unemployment Assistance (Night Work) Regulations, 1940.

2. Where a person is employed to work continuously from a time on any day until a time on the next following day, that person shall be regarded, for the purposes of the Unemployment Assistance Acts, 1933 to 1940, as being, by virtue of such employment, employed—

(a) in case the first day is a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday and the employment on the first day is longer than that on the second, or in case the first day is a Saturday—only on the first day, or

(b) in any other case—only on the second day.
