BOARDED OUT CHILDREN (CONTRACTS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1940.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

The Minister for Local Government and Public Health in exercise of the powers vested in him by the Poor Relief (Ireland) Acts, 1838 to 1914, the Pauper Children (Ireland) Acts, 1898 and 1902, the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Acts, 1923 and 1924, and every county or joint county scheme confirmed or amended by or under the said last mentioned Acts and of all other powers in this behalf enabling him, does hereby order as follows, that is to say :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Boarded Out Children (Contracts) (Amendment) Order, 1940.

(2) In this Order the expression " board of assistance " means the board to which is entrusted under a county or joint county scheme confirmed or amended by or under the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 , the administration of the relief of the poor in any county or county borough and includes a board of assistance established by the Local Government (Dublin) (Amendment) Act, 1931 .

2. Notwithstanding anything contained in any order, rule or regulation requiring any contract to be entered into by a board of assistance with a foster-parent with respect to the placing out at nurse or boarding out of any child to be scaled with the seal of the board of assistance, any such contract may in place of being sealed with the seal of the board, be signed on behalf of the board by the chairman of the day and may be executed by such chairman and the foster-parent in the following form namely :—

In pursuance of the resolution of the.................... assigning the child.................... to.................... as its foster-parent, I, the chairman presiding at the meeting of the.................... on the day of the date hereof have affixed my signature to this contract on behalf of the said.................... and the said.................... has likewise hereunto affixed his (or her) signature.
