CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 34) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, that the Government may at any time by order amend or revoke any quota order or other order previously made under the said Act :

AND WHEREAS the Control of Imports (Quota No. 34) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 146 of 1937), was made under the said Act on the 25th day of June, 1937 :

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 11 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 34) (Amendment) Order, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 19th day of May, 1938.

4. The Control of Imports (Quota No. 34) Order, 1937, is hereby amended by the insertion at the end of paragraph 4 of the following word and sub-paragraphs, that is to say:—

" or

(m) which is imported as part of the normal equipment of a mechanically propelled vehicle or a vehicle which is, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, designed and constructed solely or primarily for traction on a road by a mechanically propelled vehicle, or

(n) which is imported as an item in a number of articles collectively chargeable with the duty imposed by Section 12 of the Finance Act, 1934 (No. 31 of 1934), at the rate mentioned at reference number 16 or at the rate mentioned at reference number 17 in the Fourth Schedule to that Act. "
