STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1938. No. 23.

DISEASES OF ANIMALS ACT, 1894 (EXTENSION TO POULTRY AND POULTRY DISEASES) ORDER, 1938.

The Minister for Agriculture, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the joint operation of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and the Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1935, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling doth hereby, after consultation with the Minister for Finance, order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894 (Extension to Poultry and Poultry Diseases) Order, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) applies to this Order.

3. In this Order—

the expression " The Act " means the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, as amended by any subsequent enactment,

the expression " the relevant sections " means Sections 4, 19, 20, 22, 25, 43, 44, 56, 65 and 74 and all other sections (including sections relating to offences and legal proceedings) containing provisions relative to or consequent on the said sections.

4. For the purposes of the relevant sections of the Act, the meaning of the word " animals " in the Act shall be and is hereby extended so as to include domestic fowls, turkeys, guinea-fowls and pigeons.

5. For the purposes of the relevant sections of the Act, the meaning of the word " disease " in the Act shall be and is hereby extended so as to include the diseases of poultry set out in the Schedule to this Order.

SCHEDULE.

DISEASES OF POULTRY.

Bacillary white diarrhœa.

Blackhead (entero-hepatitis).

Fowl typhoid.

Tuberculosis.

Fowl pox.

Fowl cholera.

Fowl paralysis.

Contagious bronchitis (laryngo-tracheitis).

Leukæmia.

Coccidiosis.

Fowl pest in any of its forms (including Newcastle disease and fowl plague).
