FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (DISPOSAL OF SWILL) ORDER, 1937.

ORDER OF THE MINISTER FOR AGRICULTURE.

(Dated 23rd December, 1937.)

The Minister for Agriculture, by virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in him by the joint operation of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and of the Diseases of Animals (Ireland) Acts, 1894 to 1935, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby orders as follows :—

1 Citation.

1. This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Disposal of Swill) Order, 1937.

2 Interpretation.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3 Definitions.

3. In this Order—

the word " vessel " includes any ship, or boat ; the word " swill," when used in relation to any vessel, includes scraps of meat and bones and all other broken or waste foodstuffs from the stores of such vessel or left over after the preparation or consumption of meals on board such vessel, and any other refuse mixed with such broken or waste foodstuffs.

4 Vessels to which this Order applies.

4. This Order applies to any vessel which calls at places outside Saorstát Eireann.

5 Prohibition against landing or dropping swill.

5. It shall not be lawful for any person who is the owner, master, charterer or person in charge of any vessel to which this Order applies to permit the landing therefrom of any swill in Saorstát Eireann, and it shall not be lawful for any such person to drop or permit the dropping of any swill from any such vessel while it is in any port, harbour or anchorage, of Saorstát Eireann.

6 Aiding, etc, unlawful acts.

6. If any person aids, abets, counsels or procures the commission of any breach of the provisions of this Order such person shall be guilty of an offence against the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894.

7 Enforcement by local authority.

7. The provisions of this Order shall be enforced by the local authority.
