TELEGRAPH (INLAND WRITTEN TELEGRAM) AMENDMENT (No. 4) WARRANT, 1937.

DEPARTMENT OF POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS.

INLAND WRITTEN TELEGRAMS.

The Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, dated 26th May, 1937.

I, OSCAR TRAYNOR, T.D., Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, Saorstát Eireann, do by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Telegraph Acts, 1863 to 1928, and of every other power enabling me in this behalf and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, Saorstát Eireann, order, direct and declare as follows:—

1. This Warrant shall be read as one with the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Regulations, 1920, dated 31st August, 1920.

2. On and from the date when this Warrant comes into operation Regulation 2 of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1928, shall be amended by the addition of the following Section 2 (1) (iii)—

"Except that there shall be charged and paid for the transmission of every telegram originating in and addressed to a place in Saorstát Eireann the following sums, that is to say:—

If the length of the telegram does not exceed nine words

For a telegram containing ten words

For a telegram containing eleven words

"IV.

For a telegram containing twelve words

"V.

For a telegram containing more than twelve words, one penny for every additional word beyond twelve."

3. On and from the date when this Warrant comes into operation Regulation 4 of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1928, shall be amended by the addition of the following words:—

"Provided that the sender of a telegram originating in Saorstát Eireann and addressed to a place in Saorstát Eireann may pay for the transmission of a reply thereto the same sum as would be paid for an ordinary telegram of the same length provided that the sum so paid by the sender shall not be less than 1s. or exceed 4s."

4. On and from the date when this Warrant comes into operation Regulation 6 of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant, 1928, shall be read as if the figures 2s. 1d. were substituted for the figures 2s. 4d. and the figures 3s. 9d. for the figure 4s.

5. On and from the date when this Warrant comes into operation Regulation 9 of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 1) Warrant 1928 shall be repealed and the fixed charge of one shilling referred to in Regulation 32 (2) of the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Regulations, 1920, dated 31st August, 1920, shall be restored.

6. This Warrant may be cited as the Telegraph (Inland Written Telegram) Amendment (No. 4) Warrant, 1937.

7. This Warrant shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1937.
