AGRICULTURAL WAGES DISTRICTS AND AREAS ORDER, 1937.

WHEREAS by virtue of the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936 (Commencement) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders No. 82 of 1937), the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936 (No. 53 of 1936) will come into operation on the 22nd day of April, 1937:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the said Act that the Minister for Agriculture shall, before the commencement of the said Act, by order divide Saorstát Eireann into such and so many districts as he thinks proper and declare that each such district shall be an agricultural wages district for the purposes of the said Act:

AND WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 4 of the said Act that the Minister for Agriculture shall, before the commencement of the said Act, by order do the following things, that is to say:—

(a) group the several agricultural wages districts in Saorstát Eireann into such and so many areas (in the said Act referred to as agricultural wages areas) as he thinks proper:

(b) declare, in respect of the committee to be established under the said section 4 for each agricultural wages area, that the number of ordinary members of such committee shall be the number (not being less than two for each wages district included in such area) specified in such order.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 3 and sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936 (No. 53 of 1936), and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said sub-sections and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:—

1 Short title

1. This Order may be cited as the Agricultural Wages Districts and Areas Order, 1937.

2 Application of Interpretation Act, 1923 .

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3 Definition.

3. In this Order the expression "the Act" means the Agricultural Wages Act, 1936 (No. 53 of 1936).

4 Agricultural wages districts.

4. Saorstát Eireann is hereby divided into the twenty-seven districts specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto, and each such district is hereby declared to be an agricultural wages district for the purposes of the Act.

5 Agricultural wages areas.

5. The several agricultural wages districts in Saorstát Eireann are hereby grouped into the following areas, that is to say:—

(a) an area (which shall be known as the Agricultural Wages Area No. 1) consisting of the several agricultural wages districts specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto at Reference No. 1 in the said Schedule;

(b) an area (which shall be known as the Agricultural Wages Area No. 2) consisting of the several agricultural wages districts specified in the second column of the said Schedule at Reference No. 2 in the said Schedule;

(c) an area (which shall be known as the Agricultural Wages Area No. 3) consisting of the several agricultural wages districts specified in the second column of the said Schedule at Reference No. 3 in the said Schedule;

(d) an area (which shall be known as the Agricultural Wages Area No. 4) consisting of the several agricultural wages districts specified in the second column of the said Schedule at Reference No. 4 in the said Schedule;

(e) an area (which shall be known as the Agricultural Wages Area No. 5) consisting of the several agricultural wages districts specified in the second column of the said Schedule at Reference No. 5 in the said Schedule.

6 Number of members of committees for agricultural wages areas.

6. The number of ordinary members of the committee to be established under section 4 of the Act for an agricultural wages area shall be the number specified in the fourth column of the Schedule hereto, opposite the mention of such agricultural wages area in the third column of the said Schedule.
