STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1937. No. 61.

SUGAR (PROHIBITION OF IMPORT) ORDER, 1937.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (1) of section 2 of the Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 (No. 16 of 1936), that the Executive Council may, at any time and from time to time, by order (in the said Act referred to as a prohibition order) prohibit the importation into Saorstát Eireann during a specified period (beginning after the date of such Order) of sugar, not manufactured or produced in Saorstát Eireann, save under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf granted under the said Act :

NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 (No. 16 of 1936), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Sugar (Prohibition of Import) Order, 1937.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. The importation into Saorstát Eireann in the period commencing on the 1st day of May, 1937, and ending on the 30th day of April, 1938, of sugar not manufactured or produced in Saorstát Eireann is hereby prohibited, save under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf granted under the said Sugar (Control of Import) Act, 1936 .
