STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1935. No. 600.

CANNED BEEF SUPPLY ORDER, 1935.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 21 of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep (Amendment) Act, 1935 (No. 37 of 1935), that the Minister for Agriculture may by order, if and whenever he so thinks proper, authorise as on and from a specified day, the supply, by way of sale to and purchase by recipients in pursuance of Part IX of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 (No. 42 of 1934), as amended by the first-mentioned Act, of canned beef in lieu of fresh beef, and may by such order or any subsequent order do (amongst other things) all or any of the following things, that is to say :—

(a) appoint the persons by whom and the places at which canned beef is to be so supplied ;

(b) fix, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the quantity of canned beef which shall, for the purposes of Part IX of the said Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 , as amended by the said first-mentioned Act, be equivalent to any particular quantity of beef specified in a beef voucher ;

(c) fix, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, the rate per pound on which the price payable by the recipient for such canned beef is to be calculated :

NOW, I, SÉAMAS O RIAIN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sub-section (1) of section 21 of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep (Amendment) Act, 1935 (No. 37 of 1935), do hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance so far as such consent is required by the said sub-section (1), order as follows, that is to say :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Canned Beef Supply Order, 1935.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. In this Order the expression " Part IX of the Principal Act, as amended " means Part IX of the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep Act, 1934 (No. 42 of 1934), as amended by the Slaughter of Cattle and Sheep (Amendment) Act, 1935 (No. 37 of 1935).

4. As on and from the 30th day of September, 1935, the supply, by way of sale to and purchase by recipients in pursuance of Part IX of the Principal Act, as amended, of canned beef in lieu of fresh beef is hereby authorised.

5. The Irish Co-operative Meat, Ltd., Christendom, Waterford, are hereby appointed to be the persons by whom canned beef is to be supplied under this Order.

6. The places specified in the Schedule to this Order are hereby appointed as the places at which canned beef is to be supplied under this Order.

7. The quantity of canned beef which shall, for the purposes of Part IX of the Principal Act, as amended, be equivalent to any particular quantity of beef specified in a beef voucher shall be one-half of such particular quantity.

8. The rate per pound at which the price payable by the recipient for canned beef supplied under this Order is to be calculated shall be four pence per pound.
