STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1934. No. 265.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 7) ORDER, 1934.

WHEREAS it is enacted by section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), that the Executive Council may at any time by order (in that Act called a quota order) prohibit, subject to the provisions of the said Act, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after a specified day (in that Act referred to as the commencement of such order) not prior to the date of such order of any particular description or descriptions of goods and that the Executive Council shall, in and by every quota order, appoint the day (not more than six weeks after the commencement of such order) on which the first quota period under such quota order shall commence :

NOW, the Executive Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited for all purposes as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 7) Order, 1934.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3. In this Order the expression " the Act " means the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934).

4. Subject to the exceptions and qualifications mentioned in the next following paragraph of this Order, the importation into Saorstát Eireann on or after the 13th day of October, 1934, of any of the articles mentioned in Part I of the Schedule hereto is hereby prohibited, but such prohibition shall not extend or apply to any of the articles mentioned in Part II of the said Schedule.

5. The prohibition effected by the next preceding paragraph of this Order shall not extend or apply to—

(a) any article which is imported under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Act, or

(b) any article to which this Order is precluded by sub-section (4) of section 3 of the Act from applying.

6. The 19th day of November, 1934, is hereby appointed to be the day on which the first quota period under this Order shall commence.

SCHEDULE.

PART I.

ARTICLES THE IMPORTATION OF WHICH IS PROHIBITED BY THIS ORDER.

1. All woven tissue in the piece which is not less than two and one-half inches in width and, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, has, for the purpose of proofing, been coated with rubber or rubber solution on one or both sides.

2. All composite cloth in the piece which is not less than two and one-half inches in width and contains any woven tissue which, or any part of which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, has, for the purpose of proofing, been subjected to a process involving the use of rubber or rubber solution.

PART II.

ARTICLES EXCEPTED FROM THE PROHIBITION OF IMPORTATION EFFECTED BY THIS ORDER.

1. Woven tissue which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, is designed, constructed, and intended for use as floor covering or for use in the manufacture of floor covering.

2. Woven tissue which is tubular in form.

3. Composite cloth which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, is designed, constructed, and intended for use as floor covering or for use in the manufacture of floor covering.

4. Composite cloth which is tubular in form.
