STATUTORY RULES AND ORDERS. 1934. No. 234.

DEPARTMENT OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS. THE COMMISSIONERS FOR OATHS (DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR) FEES REGULATIONS, 1934.

WHEREAS it is enacted by Section 3 (1) of the Commissioners for Oaths (Diplomatic and Consular) Act, 1931 (No. 9 of 1931), that the Minister for External Affairs may, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, by order make regulations in relation to :

(a) the fees to be charged by persons to whom Section 2 of the said Act applies in respect of the administering, taking, or doing of any oath, affidavit, or notarial act authorised by the said section to be administered, taken, or done by them;

(b) the manner in which such fees are to be collected ; and

(c) any other matter or thing relating to such fees.

NOW, THEREFORE I, EAMON DE VALERA, Minister for External Affairs, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, testified by his signature to this Order, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 (1) of the Commissioners for Oaths (Diplomatic and Consular) Act 1931 (No. 9 of 1931), and of every and any other power enabling me in this behalf do order, and it is hereby ordered as follows :—

1. These Regulations may be cited for all purposes as the Commissioners for Oaths (Diplomatic and Consular) Fees Regulations, 1934.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of these Regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.

3.—(1) The fees to be charged in respect of the matters mentioned in the First Column of the Schedule to this Order by the persons to whom Section 2 of the Commissioners for Oaths (Diplomatic and (Consular) Act, 1931 (No. 9 of 1931) applies shall be charged in accordance with the scale contained in the Second Column of the said Schedule.

(2) The said fees shall be paid in Irish Free State currency or in gold or in money which is legal tender in the country in which they are payable and, if paid otherwise than in Irish Free State currency or in gold, shall be calculated at a rate not lower than the absolute par of exchange.

(3) Every fee paid under these Regulations shall be receipted on the document to which the payment of such fee relates by the affixture thereon of adhesive Consular Service stamps of the appropriate denomination and by the cancellation of the stamps so affixed.
