Amendment of section 4 of the Principal Act.

8.—(1) Sub-section (1) of section 4 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by the deletion of all words from the words “were purposes” to the end of the sub-section and the substitution therefor of the words “were the purposes of Part III of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890, as amended by any subsequent enactment, and section 37 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1931 (No. 50 of 1931), and the Second Schedule to that Act, as amended by the Housing (Financial and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1932 (No. 19 of 1932), shall apply accordingly as if the purposes of this Act were the purposes of the said Part III, but with such modifications as may be necessary having regard to the express provisions of this Act (including this section)”.

(2) Sub-section (4) of section 4 of the Principal Act is hereby amended by the deletion of all words from the words “every petition” to the words “contain or” and the substitution therefor of the words “every compulsory purchase order for the compulsory acquisition of land for the purposes of this Act made by a local authority and submitted to the Minister shall”.
