COUNTY SCHEME ORDER, LIMERICK COUNTY BOROUGH (AMENDMENT), 1933.

DEPARTMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PUBLIC HEALTH.

LIMERICK COUNTY BOROUGH SCHEME.

To the Council of the County Borough of Limerick; to the Limerick County Borough Board of Health; and to all others whom it may concern:

WHEREAS in pursuance of Section 5 of the Local Government (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1923 (hereinafter referred to as "the Act") the Minister for Local Government did by an Order under his Seal of Office bearing date the 28th day of June, 1923, called the Limerick County Borough Scheme Order, 1923, amend and modify the existing County Scheme relating to the County Borough of Limerick, as set forth in the First Schedule to the Act in such manner as to bring it into conformity with the provisions set forth in the Schedule to the said Order and did substitute the same for the provisions of the said existing County Scheme (which provisions as so substituted are hereinafter referred to as "the Limerick County Borough Scheme"):

AND WHEREAS in pursuance of the said section the Minister for Local Government and Public Health did by the Limerick County Borough Scheme (No. 2) Order, 1925, and the Limerick County Borough Scheme (Amendment) Order, 1929, amend the Limerick County Borough Scheme:

AND WHEREAS the Minister for Local Government and Public Health deems it necessary further to amend the Limerick County Borough Scheme in manner hereinafter appearing, and did on the 31st day of July, 1933, give to the Council of the County Borough of Limerick one month's notice of his intention to make such amendment and has taken into consideration any representation which has been made to him by the said Council within such month in respect of such amendment:

NOW THEREFORE, the Minister for Local Government and Public Health in exercise of the powers given to him by Section 5 of the Act and of all other powers in this behalf enabling him, the said month having expired, does by this his Order, order and direct as follows, that is to say:—

1. The Limerick County Borough Scheme shall be and is hereby amended by the insertion therein after Article 18 thereof of the following article:—

18A. (1) In lieu of appointing an officer in a dispensary district for the purpose of administering any specified class of medical relief which is to be granted otherwise than in an institution to persons eligible therefor in such dispensary district, the Board of Health may, with the consent of the Minister, enter into a contract with a society or with the governing body of a hospital or similar institution under which such society or body is to be bound to afford such class of medical relief to every person eligible for and requiring such medical relief in such dispensary district by means of duly qualified persons in their service.

(2) The Board of Health may pay to any society or body with whom they have entered into a contract under this Article such sum or sums as shall be provided for in such contract.

(3) Where the Board of Health has entered into a contract under this Article in respect of any class of medical relief in a dispensary district, medical relief of such class shall, notwithstanding anything in the Medical Charities (Ireland) Act, 1851, or the rules thereunder, be granted and administered in such dispensary district in accordance with such contract.

2. This Order may be cited as the Limerick County Borough Scheme (Amendment) Order, 1933, and shall come into operation on the date hereof.
